Five women and their children did not have as much fun as they had hoped for when their fairground ride got stuck, leaving them hanging in the air until the early hours of the morning. Al-Watan newspaper reported Friday that the ride at the fairground in the south of Riyadh suffered a malfunction at around 11 P.M. Wednesday, prompting screams and fainting from both onlookers below and those trapped above. The Civil Defense was brought in by husbands of women who had called them from their mobile telephones after attempts by fairground security staff managed only to extract one six-year-old child and the aunt that was accompanying her.
