The Administrative Court issued 66 verdicts in 22 cases filed by individuals against the Passports Department here on Wednesday. The cases involved demands for the cancellation of fines imposed in violations related to pilgrims transport and others activities. Sources at the Board of Grievances said the three judges assigned to the cases issued 22 summary verdicts including ordering the Passports Department to urgently lift the impoundment on cars belonging to the plaintiffs, as “the impoundment of vehicles has to be done through a court order issued by the Board of Grievances in accordance with the regulations regarding illegal pilgrims transport.” This means the department has to file cases with the board against those violators to obtain court orders to confiscate the cars used in the violations. The court also issued 22 other verdicts forcing the department to halt the implementation of some fines in that “the decisions regarding them are not final because they are not yet approved by the Minister of Interior.” Another 22 verdicts included rejecting the plaintiffs' demands to cancel the fines. The rejection was based on the fact that the Administrative Court challenges final decisions and the fines were not yet final.
