SAPIN signs packaging deal with Nestlé ME

Saudi Arabian Packaging Industry (SAPIN), a market leader in the GCC consumer metal and plastic packaging industry, has signed an agreement with Nestlé Middle East to manufacture and supply fancy cans for Nestlé's world-famous Quality Street brand of chocolates.
Based in Dammam, SAPIN is the GCC leader in the dry food can market for powder milk and instant drink powders, and is also the leading supplier of aerosol cans as well as cans for paints and coatings.
The supply agreement was signed between George Lindsay, general manager of SAPIN, and Jean-Louis Chaumeil, CEO of Nestlé Middle East. Under the terms of the agreement, SAPIN will produce 1 million units of octagonal-shaped cans per annum for the Nestlé Quality Street brand.
“This agreement marks a significant product portfolio expansion for SAPIN and cements our strategic partnership with Nestlé Middle East,” George Lindsay said. “The deal gives us an opportunity to demonstrate SAPIN's unique expertise in the manufacture of decorative tinware by bringing to the region's consumers one of the world's best-loved chocolate brands in a high-quality, visually appealing packaging.”
Nestlé Middle East CEO Jean-Louis Chaumeil said: “We are pleased to continue our association with SAPIN and extend our supply agreement with them to include more premium Nestlé brands. We look forward to benefiting from their packaging expertise and are hopeful of shaping an exciting future together.”
SAPIN has been associated with Nestlé Middle East since 2007 when SAPIN UAE signed an agreement with the F&B giant for the manufacture and supply of cans for NIDO milk powder.
The fancy cans for Quality Street will be made of double reduced tinplate, which combines the advantages of low weight and high strength while offering superior ductility. Designed to optimize decorating and branding possibilities, the cans are interlocked to eliminate the need for welding, thus allowing a full decoration of the body of the can.
SAPIN is using a unique embossing technique on the lid of the box, creating a special tactile experience for consumers who are also attracted by the exciting mix of colors including dark purple and gold. Consumers also have the opportunity to re-use the empty containers - and interact with the brand - long after the chocolates are consumed.
“SAPIN is committed to delivering world-class packaging solutions to clients around the world, and we constantly invest in state-of-the-art technology and adopt the latest manufacturing techniques,” Lindsay said. __
