Over 5,000 males and females working unofficially at universities and colleges are expected to have their posts made official, sources say. The move comes after eight months of discussions between the Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Civil Service. A committee formed by a Royal Decree of Civil Service, Finance, Planning and Economy ministers plus the Director of General Control Court, the Minister of State and a member of the Cabinet, has completed the collection of data on all unofficial employees. “We are now waiting for the decision to be announced,” said the source. “Most of the unofficial employees' salaries are not commensurate with their qualifications.” The decision came after the Minister of Education called for a review of all unofficial employee contracts.
