DUBAI BIDS FAREWELL TO POETS

Sheikh Muhammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, with Egyptian poet Ahmad Hijazi seen at left, attends the closing ceremony of the week-long Dubai International Poetry Festival 2009 at Madinat Jumeriah Theater in Dubai Tuesday. Coinciding with the closing of the poetry festival, Sheikh Muhammad released a collection of his poems titled Poems from the Desert translated into English from Arabic. The festival brought over 100 poets and literary critics from all over the world to participate in the event, which will be held again next year featuring more famous and talented international poets.
