Pettitte has a career record of 12-4 with a 3.06 ERA against Kansas City, which is his best earned run average against any AL club. Red Sox 12, Tigers 6: At Boston, J.D. Edwin Encarnacion hit a two-run homer for Cincinatti and reliever Francisco Cordero earned a save against his former team. Harang struck out three and walked none. Cordero, who left the Brewers to join the Reds in the offseason, pitched a perfect ninth for his second save of the season. Cincinatti scored three runs in the top of the seventh after it had been tied 1-1. Mets 4, Phillies 3, 12 innings: In New York, Jose Reyes scored the winning run with a deft slide at the plate in the 12th inning as New York downed Philadelphia. The Mets won successive games against the Phillies, having previously lost nine in a row to their National League East rivals. With two outs in the 12th, Reyes doubled off Tom Gordon and Angel Pagan grounded a sharp single to center to clinch it.
