Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Majed, Emir of Madina Region, has ordered the arrest of a Saudi man living in Taif who claimed to treat people by recitation of Qur'anic verses. He is also accused of causing a rift between two families and the death of a Saudi woman by treating her with unknown herbs and talismans. Khalid Al-Muhammadi, a Saudi national, said the husband of one of his sisters brought the sorcerer, in his forties, about a year ago from Taif to treat his step sister who was suffering from multiple sclerosis (MS), according to medical reports from Madina National Hospital, the Military Hospital in Jeddah and King Fahd Hospital in Madina. At that time, he said, the sorcerer claimed that his sister was suffering from insanity. “Then he said she was under a magic spell. He claimed that the Jinn told him through my step-sister that a man named Khalid and his wife had cast a spell on her. This caused a dispute between my family and my father's family and my sisters. Matters worsened between the two families with the deterioration of my step sister's condition under the influence of the herbal medicines finally leading to her death last week. The sorcerer used to take SR5,000 whenever he visited us in Madina,” the distraught brother said. Khalid filed an official complaint in Madina governorate and after that the Emir of Madina issued directives for the man's arrest.
