The match was part of the Saudis' preparations for their World Cup qualifier against North Korea in Pyongyang Wednesday. Thailand has already been eliminated from the 2010 World Cup qualifying round. The Saudis held several training sessions in Sendai that was hit by snow with the mercury at -3 degrees Celsius. The only remarkable Saudi threat in the first half came through Hassan Al-Raheb that was cleared by Thai defenders. Saudi team coach Nasser Al-Johar aimed to test as many of his 25-player squad as possible to familiarize them with weather conditions. Yasser AL-Qahtani missed the match after he picked up a thigh injury during a training session. After the break, the Saudis stormed the rival goal thanks to the substitutions. In the 62nd minute, Rayan Bilal put the Saudis ahead when he headed Abdo Atif's shot into Thailand net three minutes before Sultan Al-Nomari doubled the Saudi lead. In the 91st minute, Teerasil Dangda took advantage of an error committed by Saudi defender to send the ball into the net of Saudi keeper Mansour Al-Najai. The Saudi team will fly to North Korea on Sunday three days before facing the home side. Saudi Arabia is fourth in Group B on four points, three behind South Korea which tops the group. Iran is second with five points while North Korea is third on four points. __
