Published in The Saudi Gazette on 29 - 01 - 2009

Salomon Kalou's goals sent Chelsea up to second place in the English Premier League in a 2-0 victory over Middlesbrough as Liverpool was held to 1-1 at Wigan on Wednesday.
Kalou scored in the 58th and 81st minutes at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea revived from a poor first half.
Liverpool squandered the lead at Wigan after Yossi Benayoun scored just before halftime, Ahmed Mido marked his debut for Boro with an 83rd-minute penalty. The draw dropped Liverpool to third, level on points with Chelsea but behind on goal difference. Both are two points behind Manchester United.
A day after being arrested over allegations of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old woman, Robinho helped Manchester City beat Newcastle 2-1 to lift the team up to ninth in the standings. Robinho set up the first goal for Shaun Wright-Phillips and Craig Bellamy marked his first appearance with the second goal.
Robin van Persie's last-minute 1-1 equalizer for Arsenal at Everton came after Tim Cahill gave the home side the lead.
Blackburn hit back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Bolton, one of manager Sam Allardyce's former clubs, and West Ham beat Hull 2-0, the Tigers losing for the sixth Premier League game in a row.
Beckham scores
David Beckham scored from a free kick with England coach Fabio Capello looking on but Diego Milito equalized three minutes from the end and AC Milan settled for a 1-1 draw with Genoa on Wednesday.
A victory would have put Milan into a tie for second in the Serie A standings with Juventus, which lost 2-1 to Udinese goals from Italy forwards Fabio Quagliarella and Antonio Di Natale.
League leader Inter Milan won 2-0 in Catania with 10 men. Midfielder Dejan Stankovic put Inter ahead five minutes in, heading in a cross from Julio Ricardo Cruz, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic made it 2-0 in the 71st, shooting into an empty net after Catania goalkeeper Benjamin Bizzarri misjudged his attempt to intercept a pass from Stankovic.
Inter leads with 49 points, Juventus was next with 43, Milan 41 and Genoa 37.
Also, Francesco Totti returned from injury and scored in AS Roma's 2-1 win over Palermo, and Fiorentina took advantage of Napoli's fourth-string goalkeeper in a 2-1 victory.
Beckham's second goal in two games arrived in the 33rd minute at San Siro, a trademark curling shot from the left of Genoa's area inside the near post.
Inter coach Jose Mourinho and striker Adriano were suspended for the game in Sicily.
Also, it was: Atalanta 0, Bologna 1; Cagliari 1, Siena 0; Chievo Verona 1, Lecce 1; Sampdoria 3, Lazio 1; and Torino 0, Reggina 0.
Athletic, Mallorca in semis
Athletic Bilbao rallied to beat Sporting Gijon 2-1 to reach the Copa del Rey semifinals, where it was joined by Mallorca after a 0-0 draw with Real Betis on Wednesday.
David Lopez and Igor Gabilondo scored for Athletic, a 23-time cup champion, to advance 2-1 on aggregate. Carmelo Gonzalez claimed Sporting's goal.
Mallorca, which sat 18th in the league and in the drop zone, got through in the cup thanks to a 1-0 victory in the first leg.
