Two in a row for Golden Saba
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 10 - 03 - 2008

to-back team honor for Golden Saba proving its tag as the best challenger, when it pulled off a golden show and got an award from the City Restaurant, courtesy of Elly Sy, for its team high record of 3,015 tpf during the 5th week of the FEDBG-FMBL 6th Conference at Bowling City here.
Willie Ansis rolled the best at 622 online with 192, 219 and 211 followed by rookie female bowler Anne Felismenia who planked 220, 200 and 182 and emerged as Female Bowler of the Week on her handicapped series of 602. The other contributors were Malou Gime (511), Ernie Geslanie (444), Jimmy Leonida (438) and Eugene Delfin (398).
The 3,015 explosion of the Golden Saba resulted to 16 points total gained points. Opposing team Cobra's Ehab Ghamdi slugged the best challenger to pocket 4 points.
Between Shawly Bowlers and Romblomanon it was the former that came out the better team on a 16-4 card (2,861-2,846). But the latter hit the spotlight when its skipper Ronald Mangua won the Male Bowler of the Week honor. Mangua's splendid performance 679 tpf managed his team to chip 4 points when it beat Shawly on total pinfalls with haandicap in Games 2 and 3, 993-983 and 958-955. Romblon skipper toppled games of 240, 222 and 217.
The Shawly showed solid defense through Cloyd Opena, Max Salang and Edison Arena. The triumvirate tallied 1,817 total pinfalls of the 2,861 overall pinfalls to win 16 points of the contest. Leader Saudia Prime Lane Armors (Solid) was fazed by the scare of equally powerful team Luvenor.
In Game 1, Luvenor dismantled the powerhouse Armors 986-881 team series with Jack Jarin heading the charge with 207 scratch. Sensing a tight contest, team's famous Ninong Ed Sardenia made a wake-up tap to his teammates signaling retaliation in Game 2 by reducing the gap to 78 pins.
Game 3 was more exciting, as Armors continued the rampage pocketing 967 total against 887 by Luvenor, but its rise was not totally successful when Luvenor pinned down Armors by 2 pins, 2,880 vs. 2,878 and split gained points in Armors' favor which defended well by TC Oliver Malicsi with 639 (from 188, 237 and 214).
In the same contest, Sardenia, produced high scratch 225 and 209 while Archie Santos had 200 in Game 2. Vangie Lim gave the best assault of 599 total with handicap and got a fair support from Lito Domingo (579) and team leader Joel Nidoy (574).
In the other matches Terminator showed its supremacy by sweeping out Waraynon Amihan, The Champ-Poy punished Bowling City is Fun in a tupsy-turvy rhythm, Waraynon Habagat crushed Artistic Bowlers and Micah's Pride B2B beat Fire Ball team 16-4. __
