JEDDAH — Governor Prince Mishaal Bin Majed has instructed authorities to extend Bellucci Circus show in the city's Khalidiya District, near the Corniche, until the end of Dhul Hijjah or Oct. 13. The internationally renowned circus troupe came to the city last month to entertain visitors of Jeddah Ghair tourism festival. Bandar Al-Bouqes, executive director of Event Square group that is organizing the event, thanked the governor for his support, adding that it would encourage more tourists to visit Jeddah. The circus, the third in the world, has so far attracted more than 60,000 people of different age groups. “We have made wide arrangements to stage the circus, covering an area of 9,000 sq. meters. We expect the number of visitors would cross 100,000 by the end of the show,” he added. Mohammed Redwan, site manager, said he thought of bringing the circus to the Kingdom after attending a Bellucci show in Cairo. “After discussing the idea with Christian Bellucci, we discovered that he had wanted to do this since 2010 when he performed in Syria,” he said. “Bellucci realized that most of his viewers were from Saudi Arabia. Since that day, he has been preparing a show suitable for the Kingdom,” said Redwan. Organizers have plans to stage the circus in other cities of the Kingdom. The two-hour show includes jugglers, a ring of death, balancing acts, Argentinean dancers, acrobats from Mongolia and other performances. The Italian circus has so far visited several Middle East countries, including Egypt, Tunisia, the UAE and Syria.
