Sanofi unveils Haj health awareness campaign to keep pilgrims healthy
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 14 - 09 - 2015

In cooperation with the Saudi Ministry of Health, Sanofi has recently launched a campaign to raise the awareness level of the pilgrims toward the common diseases that can affect them during the Hajj and the preventive procedures that should be taken during their journey through the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.
This campaign is an answer to the continuous concern expressed by the Health Authorities and Sanofi about the health of millions of prospective Haj pilgrims who will come to Saudi Arabia to perform Haj pilgrimage.
The educational tips feature mass information about health requirements of Hajj, in addition to advisory information that should to be followed by all pilgrims to enjoy a healthy Haj.
The educational tips are categorized into 3 main categories (infectious diseases, hajj wellbeing tips and last but not least acute diseases).
Furthermore, Sanofi stresses on the significance of Hajj mandatory vaccinations for all pilgrims and addresses diseases like cholera, dengue fever, flu and meningitis showcasing the precautionary measures that should be considered.
Commenting on the campaign, Dr. Salah Mousa, General Manager of SANOFI Saudi, said: “The launch of this Hajj Health Awareness campaign in collaboration with the Ministry of Health is a crucial part of Sanofi's commitment to ensure the healthiest possible journey for each pilgrim from their arrival and up to the return to their homelands. To facilitate and ensure a maximum exposure among the pilgrim population, the campaign is available in various languages with a complete and comprehensive guidance aiming at the prevention of infectious diseases as well as medical recommendations.”
On the other hand, Dr. Abdullah Assiri , Assistant Deputy Ministers for Preventive Health in the MOH, said: “This initiative launched by the MOH and Sanofi plays a vital part in the Hajjis wellbeing, since they are subject to get infected during the hajj period by either infectious or non-infectious illnesses. The campaign reflects the dedication of Sanofi, as a trusted healthcare partner in Saudi Arabia, towards the health of Hajj pilgrims, enlightening them on how to keep up with and take full advantages the Hajj health instructions.” — SG
