Longest-running midsize passenger car ups the ante
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 29 - 08 - 2015

LOADED with an array of customer-focused technologies, the 2015 Chevrolet Malibu raises the bar when it comes to performance, connectivity, and crash-avoidance capability.
On the technology front, the vehicle comes packed with Chevrolet's MyLink infotainment system, which allows users to engage their smartphone functions hands-free; they can open phone books, personal playlists, and photo galleries from compatible smartphones.
Connectivity can be provided through USB, Bluetooth and aux-in. In addition, customers can opt to purchase an integrated navigation system.
The 2015 Malibu also delivers superior safety. Today, it is one of the best-equipped vehicles in the midsize segment; available side blind zone alert and rear cross traffic alert complement the available forward collision alert and lane departure warning to enhance Malibu's crash-avoidance capability.
Additional contributors to Malibu's safety and peace of mind include 10 standard air bags – and two optional air bags – and available rear vision camera.
In the event of a crash, Malibu provides a strong structure with 65-percent high-strength and ultra-high-strength steels, full-length frame rails, a reinforced safety cage and impact-absorbing crush zones.
This structure is designed to absorb the energy created in a crash and help preserve the structural integrity of the occupant compartment.
It is in line with this that the Malibu was awarded a top five-star rating by Euro NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) and Korean NCAP.
In terms of performance, the 2015 Malibu is also truly ahead of the curve. It features a lineup of fuel-efficient and powerful four and six cylinder engines that complements its European-inspired driving characteristics.
They offer noise-reducing features such as a cast exhaust manifold, steel crank, low-noise timing chain and direct mount accessories that contribute to a quiet-cabin experience.
The Ecotec 2.4L dual overhead cam, four-cylinder engine with direct injection uses continuously variable valve timing to optimize performance, efficiency, and emissions.
It produces 170 hp at 5800 rpm and 230 Nm of torque at 4600 rpm allowing it to reach 0-100 km/h in 10.2 seconds. The 3.0L engine uses spark ignition direct injection and continuously variable valve timing to optimize performance, efficiency and emissions.
It produces 258hp at 6900 rpm and 290 Nm of torque at 5600 rpm allowing it to reach 0-100 km/h in 8.1 seconds. Both engines are offered with a Hydra-Matic six-speed automatic transmission.
All customers of the 2015 Malibu will receive a new level of customer experience courtesy of Chevrolet Care, which ensures hassle-free service and the lowest maintenance cost.
Chevrolet Care provides competitive service pricing and cost transparency; booking service with same-day delivery; quality service by certified technicians; regional 24x7 roadside assistance; and a regional 3-year/100,000-km warranty.
Chevrolet's scheduled maintenance interval is once every 10,000 km versus once every 5,000 km for most of its competitors.
Founded in 1911 in Detroit, Chevrolet is now one of the world's largest automotive brands, doing business in more than 140 countries and selling more than 4.9 million cars and pickups a year.
Chevrolet provides customers with fuel-efficient vehicles that feature spirited performance, expressive design, high quality and outstanding value.
The Chevrolet portfolio for the Middle East features award-winning passenger cars such as the Spark, Sonic, Cruze, Malibu, Impala, Camaro and Corvette; crossovers such as the Captiva and Traverse; and, SUVs and pickups including the Tahoe and Silverado.
Chevrolet also offers customers a high-level aftersales service experience through Chevrolet Care. — SG
