JEDDAH – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Friday condemned in the strongest terms the horrendous crime by extremist settlers who attacked and burned a house in Nablus, in the West Bank, leading to the burning death of a Palestinian toddler and severe injuries to his family members. The OIC described the crime as a dangerous escalation of terrorist acts by extremist settlers, protected by an indifferent and unperturbed Israeli army, against the Palestinian people, their land and their holy sites. OIC Secretary-General Iyad Madani said Israel, the occupying power, should be held fully responsible and accountable for the consequences of these mounting and systematic terrorist acts perpetrated by the extremist settlers in the occupied Palestinian territory. The OIC chief called on the international community, particularly the permanent members of the Security Council and the states that continue to affirm their everlasting relationship with Israel, to assume their political, moral and humanitarian responsibilities and take immediate and concrete measures to stop these crimes perpetuated by Israeli occupation forces on Palestinian land. He emphasized the importance of following up the dossier of Israeli crimes and infractions at the International Criminal Court. Madani also emphasized that the OIC General Secretariat continues to make earnest efforts to convene an emergency Islamic summit called for by the Palestinian leadership to consider the challenges facing the Palestinian cause internally and externally. — SPA
