Published in The Saudi Gazette on 17 - 07 - 2015

JEDDAH — As the much-awaited Eid celebration is approaching, Tarfeeh Fakieh's Al-Shallal Amusement Park has announced its readiness to welcome excited visitors.

With new comprehensive safety plans, a trained staff and thrilling attractions, visitors are going to experience fun in its element.

Al Shallal, a paramount feature of Jeddah's waterfront, is continually reinventing itself to always represent happiness and fun in the Kingdom.

“As the opening of the park's unique Planetarium nears, Tarfeeh Fakieh is striving to spread a culture of learning though entertainment among schools and children, said Jameel Attar, executive director of Tarfeeh Fakieh.

“The rides we have for this summer are more thrilling and exciting than ever," he stated, going on to say “There is more to come for next summer.”

Attar added that, Al-Shallal's Slingshot ride, the only one of its kind in the Kingdom, has become so popular that it is a must-try ride among residents of Jeddah and the million tourists that visit every year.

He explained that unlike many similar amusement rides around the world, the Slingshot, along with other rides at the park, have sturdy and risk free safety measures that safe guards them.

The park follows strict safety and maintenance measures and all rides are inspected on a regular basis and approved by the leading German company TUV to guarantee the safety of the games and visitors.

Teams of Saudi staff and supervisors patrol the entire park to make sure that everything is in excellent shape, from the flawless functionality of a ride to hygiene.

“Some of the staffers walk around the park 20 kms a day,” Attar said enthusiastically. “Nothing gets past their keen eyes, not even an operator's turned-up collar or a tissue on the ground.”

Visitors to Al-Shallal can spend all day while feeling right at home. In addition to the two major restaurants – Al-Dayah, a Lebanese-style diner, and Hainan, the go-to place for Chinese cuisine hosted by a completely Chinese staff — countless food stalls offer a selection of different cuisines, from New York City-style hot dog sandwiches to French desserts.
And for those who prefer something more familiar, they can take a bite from the local fast food eateries. Combined, Al-Shallal's dining facilities can accommodate up to 2,500 people at any given time, says Attar.

“Individuals and corporate clients will find diverse, very accommodating quarters for their personal and corporate guests,” he said. — SG
