With the passing away of Oscar-nominee and Egyptian-born iconic cinema legend Omar Sharif a glorious and unforgettable chapter in cinema has come to an end, With his superb talent Sharif went on to dominate Hollywood cinema, and he captivated the audience worldwide for more than half a century with his wide range of dashing and dignified characters. The versatile actor will always be remembered for his superb performance in the title role “Doctor Zhivago”. He first started his career five decades ago in Egyptian cinema where he earned acclaim and popularity for his classical role in film “Lawrence of Arabia” and got best supporting actor Oscar nomination. He was multifaceted and versatile personality. Besides being top class actor, he was a world class bridge player, who used to attend major bridge tournaments. He was fluent in Arabic, English, French, Greek, Italian and Spanish. The legacy of Sharif will be kept alive with his films, which will enrich generations to come.
