JEDDAH — The minister of interior has ordered the demolition and reconstruction of Briman prison to make room for a new and better equipped prison facility. Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Al-Hamzy, director of prisons, said the minister has allocated SR400 million for the new facilities, which will have capacity to hold 2,700 inmates. He added that several prisons in the Kingdom already have state-of-the-art technologies and surveillance systems installed. The prisons also offer inmates with health and education programs in order to rehabilitate them into becoming productive members of society.
