AIUS fetes visiting poet Adeeli

RIYADH — The All India United Society (AIUS), following its tradition, felicitated and honored humorous poet Shahed Adeeli, who had recently come to the capital from Hyderabad, India, to take part in the mushaira conducted by the Bihar Foundation.
The AIUS, following a series of mushairas in the city, hosted the felicitation for Adeeli at Saffron Restaurant. Adeeli is visiting Saudi Arabia for the first time.
Mohammed Shabaz Farooqui, treasurer of AIUS conducted the proceedings and introduced the poet.
He said Adeeli is the son of great poet Nazeer Ali Adeel, who contributed a lot for the promotion and development of Urdu poetry and literature. Being one of the top poets of Hyderabad, he mentored hundreds of budding poets, who have gone on to gain a name for themselves in Urdu poetry.
Dr. Mohammed Ashraf Ali, president AIUS, congratulated Obaid ur Rahman for the successful staging of the Bihar Foundation Mushaira. The Mushaira staged with support and cooperation of Indian communities from other states. was termed as a dawn of new era of cooperation between north and south Indians. Ali assured full support and cooperation from his organization. He then described the AIUS activities during the past 13 years.
Adeeli thanked AIUS and its members for the honor bestowed on him. He said, Hyderabad has many Urdu loving people and it has rich tradition of organizing such great Mushairas.
Adeeli delivered some of his humorous couplets in Hyderabadi dialect, popularly known as Deccani. Audience enthusiastically listened to his renderings.
Obaid ur Rahman, on his part, thanked the Hyderabadi community for its help and support in organizing the mushaira. He attributed the success of mushaira to the whole Indian community and said that without their cooperation this poetry session could not have been successful. He said unity of Indian community was seen in the staging of the mushaira.
Mohammed Rafeeq, vice president AIUS, also congratulated Obaid ur Rahman and Adeeli. On this occasion floral bouquets and gifts were presented to Adeeli. He also presented the set of Saudi traditional perfumes, Tajamul Ali Khan presented a shawl, Syed Kareem Khalid presented a gift on behalf of AIUS.
Mohammed Saifuddin, Muzaffaruddin, Mohammed Athar, Mohammed Abdul Basith, Mirza Omer Baig and Taher Bin Jaffer, President Golden Telangana Welfare Association, were also present. Syed Kareem Khalid proposed vote of thanks.
