Published in The Saudi Gazette on 26 - 05 - 2015

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia has seen remarkable progress in the transport and railway industry throughout the past years, complementing its efforts to address development needs and provide safe and prompt transportation to the public, based on latest technologies. With the ongoing development and massive projects across the transport and service industry, and looking to contribute effectively to the local transport sector and shed light on the current and future prospects in the Kingdom, Riyadh Exhibitions Company (REC) will be hosting the ‘Saudi Transport 2015' exhibition from May 31 to June 3, 2015 at Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Center (RICEC).

To be held under the support and patronage of the Saudi Ministry of Transport, the ‘Saudi Transport 2015' will attract leading local and international industry players to showcase their advanced products and services and communicate effectively with top-notch experts, investors and industry leaders. The event will also feature a wide range of the latest products, services and solutions related to the various segments of the transport industry including air freight; integrated transport techniques; rapid transport; land, sea and air transport; public transport systems; online data exchange; Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP); e-services; distribution; free-zone services and equipment; insurance and many more.

A spokesperson from Riyadh Exhibitions Company said: “We organize national events aimed at driving development across the various segments in Saudi Arabia, including the transport sector, in light of the great support of the wise government. As one of the key players in Saudi Arabia, we are steadfast in our commitment to contribute to the development of the local transport sector by providing necessary tools through our events. The Saudi Transport 2015' will offer an ideal platform for industry professionals to communicate with local and international leading companies and share their perspectives on the emerging international trends in the transport and technology sectors. The event is poised to offer a great opportunity for decision makers, government authorities, industry companies, experts and investors to explore the latest initiatives and projects, prepare effective strategies and share international best practices in the transport industry. We believe that the development and expansion of any social or economic sector mainly relies on how responsive the transport industry is to the development and expansion needs of that sector. Here comes the importance of the ‘Saudi Transport 2015' which will enable participants to examine the challenges, strategies and required solutions to promote the transport sector and thereby affect positively on the Kingdom's social and economic development”.

The Saudi Ministry of Transport has conducted a study on the public transport policies and regulations being implemented in the Kingdom, with the aim to develop comprehensive and well-defined strategies and policies to establish a public transport system within and between cities. This has resulted in the issuance of the Council of Ministers' Resolution No. 174 dated 2/6/1433 for creation of the Public Transport Authority (PTA) with the aim to regulate the public transport services within and between cities, oversee them, provide a good level of services at affordable cost and encourage investment in the transport sector on a par with the objectives of the social and economic development in the Kingdom. — SG
