Waqas, Basit and Aijaz dazzle in Modern Pioneer Cup

JEDDAH — Waqas of Crown Steel and Basit of Elaf hammered centuries, while Aijaz of Crown Steel grabbed 6 wickets in the Modern Pioneer Cup, which is sponsored by Modern Pioneer Company and organized by WPCA here.

Premier Summer

Crown Steel downed Hala friends by 43 runs. Crown Steel racked up 218 for 5 as Shaoib Ali hit 40. Waqas Ausaf hammered an unbeaten 101 in 49 balls studded with 9 fours and 4 sixes. He added 86 with Nadeem Amin (37). Samer took 3-26, while a wicket each was claimed by Wajahat and Saleem.

Hala Friends had a fine start with Hassan Malik making 42 and Saleem 61 in 41 balls, while Abdullah Essa added 26. Aijaz Sagheer cut through the Hala Friends middle order with 6 for 25 to restrict it to 175. Waqas Ausaf bagged 2-19, while a scalp each was picked up by Gulam Riyaz and Shoaib Ali.

My Care Hala was declared winner in its match against Al-Ghamdi Cricket Stars.

Afternoon Summer

Seven Matches took place in the league. In the first encounter, Hala international School defeated Contraco by 19 runs. Hala piled up 165 for 7 as Mohsin top scored with an unbeaten 56, after it was reeling at 79 for 5. Earlier, Tariq made 23, Junaid 22 and Mustafa 26. Shakeel, Abbas, Amjad took 2 wickets each. Contraco could manage only 146.

Hala Academy White thrashed Marine Services by 7 wickets. Marine Services posted 172 for 6 as Ahmed scored 43, Majed 28 and Riaz 42 not out. Furqan took 2-28. Hala White reached 174 for 3 in 97 balls as Furqan blasted 25, Amir Sajjad 49 and Aseer Ashraf 75 not out. Ahmed grabbed 2-35.

Elaf Advance had the last laugh against AOT Youngsters by 3 wickets. AOT Youngsters posted 178 for 8 as Moiz scored 24 and Pervez Baig 66 not out with the help of 2 sixes and 7 fours. Saqlain scalped 2-24. Elaf Advance was home (179) for the loss of 7 wickets on the last ball. Basit single-handedly took his team to victory smashing an unbeaten 100 off 53 balls with 4 sixes and 12 fours. Rameez took 2-41 and Usman 2-23.

Thales Group downed NAI Juffali by 11 runs. Thales Group piled up 158 for 7 as Amir Shahzad scored 26, Amjed Iqbal 35 and Ali Jaan 22. Masood took 3-27. NAI Juffali was stranded at 147 for 7. Sardar scored 20 and Kamran remained unbeaten on 34. Ali took 2-8, Nana 2-34.

Zultrack had the better of Al-Safri by 5 wickets. Al-Safri-XI put on 124 for 9 with Manjeet making 33 and Shahzad 21. Amjed took 2-16 and Usman Gulab 2-33. Zultrack achieved the target for the loss of 5 wickets after it was in trouble at 69 for 5. Qaim Khan played a match-winning innings of 71 not out in 46 balls. Waseeq Sherwani took 2-26.

Lothers humbled Azizya Elegant by 10 wickets. Azizya Elegant was bundled out for 120 with Dinesha making 24 not out. Yasar claimed 3-31, Shibu 2-18 and Nazir 2-13. Lothers overhauled the target in 49 balls without losing a wicket. Badushah hammered an unbeaten 55 and Yasar remained not out on 57.

In the last match of the Afternoon League, Waqas Malik-XI trounced E.T. Zone by 6 wickets. E.T. Zone was bowled out for 90. Ilyas made 24. Rana Haroon grabbed 3-13 and Tauseef 2-9. Waqas Malik-XI reached 96 for 4 in 67 balls. Waqas Malik scored 20 and Farid 64. Mohammed scalped 2-5.
