DUBAI — The entrepreneurship support programs of Dubai SME, the agency of the Department of Economic Development (DED) mandated to develop the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector, has seen an innovative and fast-growing health beverage brand being brought to the UAE and the Middle East for the first time.
Beesket, the first outlet of which is now open in the Sunset Mall in Jumeirah, will introduce the concept of ‘smart juices' in the region as part of the latest venture from Ghaya Investments LLC, founded by Dubai SME members Saeed M. Kharbash and Ahmad Al Mehairi.
Founded in South Korea in 2012, the Beesket provides natural and healthy juices tailored to the nutritional needs and tastes of customers along with an enhanced customer experience driven by modern technology. Dubai SME supported Ghaya Investments LLC bring the Beesket franchise to Dubai as part of its support to innovative projects that utilize advanced technology add substantial value to business in Dubai.
"We are pleased to see such pilot projects being launched in Dubai and it reflects the keenness of UAE nationals and business leaders to follow the footsteps of our ancestors and support the directive of our President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to make 2015 as the Year of Innovation,” said Abdul Baset Al Janahi, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai SME who attended the opening of the Beesket outlet along with his senior colleagues.
“Dubai SME is also keen to promote projects that stress on innovation and we will support the development of innovative ideas into reality through offering practical workshops, advisory services, training as well as financial and moral support,” Al Janahi stated.
“Technology has limitless application in pursuing innovation and providing services to people. Beesket is the first national project that applies innovative radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology to provide a bespoke healthy beverage. At Beesket the customer can order any combination of fruits or vegetables on the basis of their place of origin, seasonality and nutritional value including calories, vitamins and minerals,” said the Dubai SME CEO.
Al Janahi also praised the owners Saeed M. Kharbash and Ahmad Al Mehairi for their enthusiasm and emphasis on healthy living and hygiene in launching Beesket, adding that that such focus is essential for entrepreneurs to achieve success and grow sustainably.
"We use natural hundred per cent natural components and customers will have complete knowledge of what they are drinking in terms of health and nutrition. Beesket integrates health and nutrition with our customers' daily life and we are seeking to increase awareness on healthy products in the UAE and encourage individuals to include a wide choice of vegetables and fruits in their daily diet,” said Saeed M. Kharbash.
Ahmad Al Mehairi said: "We thank the team at Dubai SME for their unwavering support in achieving our dream project. We aim to bring about an unprecedented revolution in the health food industry and combine the elements of taste and nutrition in our juices. We are also committed to providing a unique customer experience through offering them the choice to pick and choose from a wide selection of fruits and vegetables that fit their needs.”
Beesket is first do-it-yourself ordering platform for the food and beverage industry, which uses RFID technology. The customer can order any combination of fruits and vegetables and select the preferred type of drink he/she prefers. Alternatively the customer can select from pre-made Beesket pods such as popular drinks or request customers choices from previous visits by providing a ‘Score Card.' The customer then places the completed Beesket pod on the scanner which displays the nutrition information and the price, before proceeding to prepare the order. — SG
