JEDDAH — The General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) is expected to face deficit in the future if the system being implemented is not fixed, said GOSI governor Sulaiman Al-Quwaiz.
He said inflation should be taken into consideration to prevent the widening of gap between the wealthy and the poor.
Al-Quwaiz added that they have collected SR2200 millions for Sanid system which will be implemented this year for those who lost their jobs in the private sector. He noted that they are considering to include the expatriate husbands and children of Saudi women.
He noted that they cannot meet the call of private sector to increase salaries. He added "we are more concerned to increase the minimum retirement wage to at least SR2000 to adhere to the inflation."
Businessmen registered at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry have called on the GOSI in a meeting Saturday to insure that they are providing the same job description as provided by both companies and the Ministry of Labor. GOSI said that they will adhere to GCC list of job titles and descriptions.
Businessmen also demanded providing all the GOSI services online, and have a new GOSI branch that can provide services to the private sector at the JCCI.
The governor of the GOSI said that they are keen to have a bilateral relation with the business sector. "Our goal is to provide social protection to those working in the private sector." He noted that they are working on upgrading their system and providing new services and initiatives to serve the estimated 1.5 million registered private sector employees. Beside the retirees, the organization also provides insurance for job risks.
Ziyad Al-Bassami, a member of the JCCI board, said that their 68 committees have worked and collaborated to provide 2,000 recommendations that they have filed to government bodies over the past four years to enhance collaboration between the private and the public sectors.
Adnan Mandoura, secretary general of the JCCI, said GOSI allows changing the salaries only at the beginning of the year.
He said they demand that GOSI allows changing the amount around the year. He also said they do not get information about the violations on companies unless they visit a GOSI office, and demanded all details of violations should be available online.
