Published in The Saudi Gazette on 11 - 04 - 2015

NAHDI Medical Company, the largest retail pharmacy chain in Saudi Arabia, announced the successful conclusion of the second edition of its Wazen II program, a competitive internal initiative aimed at creating a healthy work environment for its employees.
Launched three months ago, the second edition of the program encouraged company employees to lead a balanced lifestyle through healthy nutrition, sports and general wellness. It was part of Nahdi's continuous efforts to provide the best workplace for its staff.
The 192 employees participating in Wazen II competition were divided into 37 teams, and the three winning teams were recognized in a ceremony attended by Nahdi officials and senior managers.
All employees showed great enthusiasm and expressed delight that the program helped them live a balanced lifestyle.
The program helped employees lose 2.2 tons of harmful fats. Hosam Al-Qurashi, vice president of marketing and external affairs at Nahdi, stated: “Wazen II was launched after the great success of the first edition, a success that earned the program the Excellence in Healthy Work Environment Policies Award during the 9th Annual Human Assets Expansion Summit MENA 2014 that Naseba International Group recently organized in Dubai, UAE.”
Al-Qurashi added: “The program seeks to create a healthy internal environment in which employees are educated through tips and guidance on good nutrition and suitable physical exercises. Relevant tips are sent weekly to all employees to help them lose weight until they get to their ideal size.”
Through Wazen II, Nahdi Medical Company underlined its firm commitment to promote hope among people through investment in the society and contribution to healthcare by providing high quality products and services.
As part of its unwavering commitment to develop its human resources and create the best work conditions for its employees, Nahdi Medical Company always works to promote health education and prevention.
As the No. 1 partner of the society, the company turns utmost attention to the health of its employees so that they, in turn, can promote awareness, convey the correct message to all groups of the society, and serve as a model.
The work environment at Nahdi Medical Company is attractive to Saudi youths. The company developed its salary scale and promotion system to motivate high performance and the sense of job security as employees is given a clear picture about their benefits and employment future.
The company offers orientation and induction programs to its new employees and organizes continuous training programs to develop the skills of its employees and deepen their theoretical and applied pharmaceutical knowledge as part of its ambitious plans to discover the leaders of the future.
As a result, the company was named one of the best Saudi companies in providing the best working environment for 2014.
The company also won the third place in the retail sector. Nahdi is a Saudi retail pharmacy chain that was founded by Sheikh Abdullah Amer Al Nahdi in 1986 as a sole proprietorship.
In 2004, the company witnessed an important transitional phase whereby it became a limited liability company and from then on it was recognized as a vital part of the healthcare sector in the Kingdom.
The journey of expansion continued with a clear vision, and has now placed Nahdi as the largest pharmacy retail chain in the Middle East and North Africa, where it represents many of the world's major medical companies. – SG
