JEDDAH — Pakistan Ambassador Manzoor Ul Haq was proud with the achievements of Pakistani students at the Pakistani Board and IGCSE examinations.
"Our children are doing us proud and I am very happy at this," said the ambassador while speaking at the 7th commendation ceremony held in Pakistan International School Nasiriyah (PISR-N) here.
The members of PISR-N Board of Directors (BOD), principal, teaching faculty, students and their parents were present to welcome Haq, the chief guest on the occasion.
Haq was accompanied by Syed Hammad Abid, Community Welfare Attaché at the Embassy of Pakistan and the Link Officer for the School.
Staffs and students of the school under the guidance of chairman Engr. Tariq Mughal and principal Abdul Razzak Qureshi had worked hard toward making this occasion memorable. The occasion was to reward the high achieving students of pre-medical, pre-engineering, science and commerce groups.
The winners of the quiz and elocution competition were also rewarded.
In his address to the gathering, Haq congratulated the BOD chairman and its members, principal and the teaching staff and students for hosting such an impressive commendation ceremony.
He said he was proud of the fact that PISR-N is serving the sons and daughters of Pakistani expatriates since the past 46 years.
"The responsibility of the teachers is not only to teach but they are also responsible for building character in them and to prepare them for the future,"Haq said.
Talking about Pakistani workers in Saudi Arabia he said that he was very proud of the fact that Pakistanis are making significant contribution toward the development of Saudi Arabia.
"Our Pakistani compatriots are also playing an important role of acting as a bridge between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia," Haq said.
Responding a question about the school's own building, Haq said that securing a building of its own for PISR-N remains on top of his agenda.
"If affluent and philanthropic Pakistanis extend help and cooperation then this dream of school building would become easier."
About Pakistan he said the present government was making strides in improving political and economic conditions in Pakistan.
"And, our brave armed forces were rooting out terrorists and working hard on the security front."
He advised all to work hard and project a soft image of our country.
Mughal welcomed Haq and Abid and thanked them for gracing the occasion. "We have done hard work to improve and better the affairs at the school and we look forward to your cooperation in achieving our goals."
Mughal also presented a detailed report about the achievements made by BOD since 2012. On this occasion they also presented Haq with a published report detailing the achievements made by BOD during the past three year's tenure.
Qureshi also spoke on the occasion and thanked the students, faculty members and Haq and Abid for their help and guidance in running the affairs of the school.
High achievers and the faculty members were also awarded with shields and trophies.
