Saudi Gazette report JEDDAH — Renowned Saudi writer and author Abid Khazandar died in Paris on Tuesday evening. He will be buried after his body is repatriated to the Kingdom on Thursday. A well-known columnist and literary critic, Khazandar was renowned for his sharp witted criticism on contemporary issues. Born in Makkah in 1354 Hijri, Khazandar obtained his bachelor's degree in agriculture from the University of Cairo and master's degree in biochemistry from America's Maryland University. After serving the Ministry of Agriculture for four years, he left for Paris where he stayed for 10 years during which he learned more about English and French literature. Khazandar served as columnist in leading Saudi dailies for more than three decades. They included Okaz, Al-Riyadh and Asharq Al-Awsat. He has also authored several books.
