JEDDAH — For the first time ever, a four-day carnival was inaugurated for budding entrepreneurs at Tahiliya center here recently. More than 200 children aged between 5-15 attended the carnival to showcase their leadership skills. The event also witnessed the participation of more than 1,000 families and children who came to encourage and motivate children. The carnival's aim was to introduce the concept of work and trade to the young generation, create awareness about managing finances, build self confidence, brain storm ideas and come up with unique business models, learn marketing and selling tactics, among others. Abeer Arif, a business woman and CEO of the foundation of Sharitata al Wardiya, said that the “carnival aims to discover the talents of children in the business, craft and art — and to nurture them at the same time as well.” “We are specialized in organizing exhibitions and events as it is a social responsibility.” she added. The carnival also included a variety of contests for children like best “small dealer,” “achieve higher sales,” and “better manual work” among others.
