SAUDI Telecom Company (STC) has successfully completed the first phase of an upgrade to the Europe India Gateway (EIG) submarine cable system, which spans 15,000 kilometers and connects 12 countries to provide essential diversity for broadband traffic across Western Europe, the Mediterranean, Middle East, Africa, and India. STC's upgrade utilizes cutting-edge 100 gigabytes per second (GBps) technology and enables the cable system to exceed its design capacity to reach up to 8 terabytes per second (TBps). In addition, Ciena's patented GeoMesh solution was deployed to ensure intelligent control, empowering STC to direct its international network traffic via EIG in an optimal and highly flexible manner.
