AL KHOBAR — Mövenpick Hotel Al Khobar, in partnership with the Civil Defense, ran a two-day Fire Fighting and Safety training from 11 until 12 November and was attended by the hotel's management team. The exercise was in line with the hotel's initiative of ensuring that effective plans and procedures are systematically mapped and ready to be executed should there be fire. The training led by Sergeant Khalil Al Faryda of the Civil Defense consists of theoretical lectures and practical drills. The former focused on safety procedures such as the important attitudes to keep in mind when facing fire, different types of fire and fire extinguishers, what steps to take when there is a gas leak, proper evacuation and rescue. The latter was done outdoor where the team was taught the correct way to hold fire extinguishers, aim and put out fire.
“Mövenpick Hotel Al Khobar recognizes that fire is a risk and can pose a serious threat to guests, property and business's reputation. Equipment or electrical malfunction and busy kitchens are some that can contribute to the risk of fire and with high occupancy loads, minor blow can quickly become serious dangers,” said Markus Marti, General Manager. He added “when people are trained to respond appropriately, the impact of crisis can be considerably reduced.”
In addition to fire fighting and safety training, Mövenpick Hotel Al Khobar will soon produce a fire evacuation video for its valued guests. — SG
