Police in Jeddah seized a haul of liquor near a shopping mall in the city's Aziziyah district late on Monday. Police officers found 564 bottles of liquor in an SUV driven by a foreigner. “Police officers were suspicious about a GMC truck driven by a Palestinian expatriate aged 32, who hasn't had a job in years,” said Sergeant Ibrahim Abdullah Al-Souat, an officer with the police patrol that made the arrest. According to Souat, the SUV was carrying 47 boxes of liquor that were somehow smuggled into the Kingdom, with each box containing 12 bottles. The police also found some SR13,600 with the driver, who had spent about half an hour selling the liquor out of the back of the truck before the police patrol rounded him up, said Souat. Colonel Ibrahim Al-Hamsi and Sergeant Atik Al-Sulami headed the ensuing campaign and the case is still under investigation to find out where the liquor came from and how it was smuggled into the Kingdom. __
