Published in The Saudi Gazette on 08 - 11 - 2008

Nail Bedair emerged victorious in the third round of the Chevrolet Speed Star Championship 2008 at Al-Reem Circuit in Riyadh Thursday.
When it comes to winning championships, Nail Bedair has all that takes one to the top - tremendous talent, an exceptional crew chief, a superior organization, the ability to drive virtually mistake-free and the perfect disposition to deal with the highs and lows of a three-race season.
Driving his Lumina SS car, Nail Bedair led the podium winners clocking the best time of 00:55:795 on the second day. Nail proved himself master of the tracks by setting the best time in the two-day race.
The win made Nail an instant celebrity in the two-day race as he captured the hearts of spectators and earned the respect of fellow racers with his brilliant performance.
The event, organized by Abdullah Bakhashab Est. for motor sport development, drew a large number of racing enthusiasts who pitted skills in a nonstop endurance battle.
Eyad Al-Najjar came second clocking 00:55:932 driving his red standard 8 cylinder Lumina SS.
Ahmad Al-Esa, who won the overall title, finished third in his standard 6 cylinder Lumina SS, clocking 00:56:166.
The two-day event was attended by enthusiastic spectators including women and children who enjoyed the high-speed action. The race was very interesting, especially among those who used the modified cars.
The race began after grouping the participants according to their vehicles into four classes based on the capacity of the engine, its power and its production year.
They were standard six cylinders, modified six cylinders, modified eight cylinders and standard eight cylinders. After the technical test on the first day every participant had to make a free tour through the track. Then the drivers had two trials to collect the best time.
Overall standing: 1. Ahmad Al-Esa (Chevrolet Speed Star 2008 Champion ) 52 points, 2. Eyad Al-Najar 45, 3. Bandar Al-Sulami 26. __
