Saudi Gazette report JEDDAH – The workforce in the Kingdom is over 1.2 million, of which some 1.1 million are Saudis, representing 93.98 percent, according to the Ministry of Civil Service statistical report issued on Sunday. The remaining 73,000 are non-Saudis, representing 6.02 percent of the workforce. The educational sector with 513,569 staff is the biggest employer of Saudis, representing 99.3%. The health sector employs 157,640, of whom Saudis form 66.8 percent and expatriates 33.2 percent. There are 50,427 people working as lecturers and demonstrators in universities, of these Saudis represent 69.43 percent. There are 55,305 unskilled workers, Saudis form 99.84 percent. The Nitaqat (“ranges” or “zones“), a Saudization program introduced by the Ministry of Labour in June 2011, was instrumental in increasing the rate of Saudization by 15 percent by November last year. Some 723,000 Saudi men and women got employed since the start of the program. The number of Saudis drawing a monthly salary of SR3,000 or more also rose to about a million.
