Published in The Saudi Gazette on 21 - 04 - 2014

ST LOUIS — Defenseman Barret Jackman scored 5:50 into overtime to give the St. Louis Blues their second consecutive overtime win, 4-3, over the Chicago Blackhawks in their opening round playoff series.
The Blues, who needed three overtime periods to win the first game, sent Game Two into overtime when Vladimir Tarasenko scored with 6.8 seconds remaining while St. Louis was on a power play and had pulled goaltender Ryan Miller for an extra skater.
A major penalty on Chicago defenseman Brent Seabrook, who also received a game misconduct for charging center David Backes, with 4:51 to play set up the tying goal. The Blackhawks had rallied from a 2-0 deficit after the first period and a 2-1 deficit entering the third.
Seabrook scored to tie the game 4:53 into the third and then defenseman Michal Rozsival scored at 6:38 to give Chicago their 3-2 lead.
Blue Jackets 4, Penguins 3 (2OT): The Columbus Blue Jackets' and their goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky both recorded their first playoff victory as they defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 in double overtime to level their first round playoff series at 1-1.
Left winger Matt Calvert scored the game-winning goal 1:10 into the second overtime period when he flipped his own rebound over Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury.
Columbus took advantage of back-to-back penalties by the Penguins in the third period and notched their second power-play goal of the game to complete a comeback from a 3-1 deficit when defenseman Jack Johnson shoveled in a rebound at 13:59.
Brian Gibbons scored two early goals to give the Penguins a 2-0 lead.
Avalanche 4, Wild 2: Nathan MacKinnon and Paul Stastny both scored a goal and made three assists each while Gabe Landeskog scored twice to lead the Colorado avalanche to a 4-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild and a 2-0 lead in their first-round playoff series.
Goaltender Semyon Varlamov stopped 30 shots for the Avalanche.
Minnesota goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov was replaced late in the second period after he allowed three goals on 14 shots.
Darcy Kuemper came on and made 14 saves before coming off for an extra skater with 2:26 left and Minnesota down 3-1.
Defenseman Marco Scandella scored to make it a one-goal game with 1:19 left before Stastny scored into the empty net with 15 seconds remaining to ensure victory. — Reuters
