AGRA — The Bharatiya Janata Party which is already reeling from massive infighting and revolt over ticket allotment is witnessing another rebellion in Fathehpur Sikri. BJP leader from Fatehpur Sikri, Udaybhaan Singh is preparing to contest the Lok Sabha elections as an independent candidate. Singh, a two-time MLA from Sikri, is allegedly upset about Chaudhary Babulal being given the party's ticket from the seat. On Saturday, Singh even purchased his nomination papers before senior BJP leaders, including Babulal, rushed to pacify him. Singh is a prominent Thakur face of the BJP in the region and his dissent can cost the party the votes of the community not just in Sikri but also in other seats in the Brajbhoomi area. Earlier, too, the BJP has faced criticism for neglecting its regional party workers and giving ticket to ‘outsiders' like film actor Hema Malini from Mathura and Satish Gautam from Atrauli. Talking reporters, Singh said he will wait for a while for the party to reconsider his candidature. “If things don't materialize, I will be left with no other option but to file nomination as an independent candidate,” he said.
