JEDDAH — Aquafina, one of the leading brands in bottle water in Saudi Arabia, has launched a Kingdom-wide campaign to raise awareness on the importance of drinking water. The campaign is in keeping with its goal to promote good health and well-being. Endorsed by the Saudi Society for Food and Nutrition (SSFN) and in cooperation with a group of doctors and specialists, the campaign was launched under the slogan “Hydrate Your Life” to encourage regular drinking of water as a daily habit. The campaign will include visits to 100 schools in cities across the Kingdom, where Aquafina will hold a series of events and activities for students and teachers, including the distribution of brochures and guidance by nutrition specialists. In addition, a media campaign will advise the public about the need to drink at least two liters of water daily to maintain healthy body functions. Aquafina is collaborating with prominent Saudi media figures Turki Al-Dakhil and Muna Abu Sulayman, who will serve as ambassadors to the campaign. They will play an important role in delivering messages designed to encourage the public to practice healthier habits for healthier lifestyles. The ambassadors will be supported by outreach activities such as messages on social networking sites and events in shopping malls. Dr. Mohammed Alamri, Chairman of the Saudi Society for Food and Nutrition, expressed the importance of the campaign to raise awareness of how the lack of drinking water affects the body. “Water is the secret of life and it is more essential than all the other nutrients. Water is the medium which activates all the daily chemical reactions in different parts of the body, including digestion and absorption,” he said. “It performs a key role in hydrating the body and in the functions and composition of the circulatory system, in addition to many other important functions. “In this sense, you cannot skip the issue of drinking water and you should not rely on thirst as a signal (to drink). Lack of fluid intake can cause many health complications and various diseases, which can be avoided by drinking water regularly.” — SG
