Syed Mussarat Khalil Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — Pakistan Welfare Society (PWS) arranged its eighth annual function and health seminar at Lasani restaurant here last Friday. Consul General of Pakistan Aftab Ahmed Khokher and his wife Afshan Khokher graced the occasion as chief guests. A large number of Pakistani community members, including doctors, engineers, professionals, experts, businessmen and social dignitaries along with their families attended the seminar. The function started with the recitation of a few verses from the Qur'an followed by its translation by Mohammad Asif. A Naat was also presented by PWS Press and Publication secretary Mohammad Nawaz Janjua. Students of Gharanata International School, Jeddah presented a national song. PWS Supreme Council Member Mansha Toor spoke about late Masood Javed, the famous Social figure of Pakistani Community here, who died two months back. PWS Joint Secretary Dr. Sarmad Saleem gave an introduction along with a review of PWS's welfare activities. Khokher praised and assured his full support toward social and medical activities of PWS. He offered his villa for holding a "Meena Bazaar" to be held as one of the PWS Women's Wing activities. He promised that the consulate would give surplus Haj medicines to PWS for needy patients. Dr. Shakeel briefly spoke on epilepsy, Dr. Asif Malik on problems related to heart, and Dr. Ghazanfar Naqvi on emergency treatment/medicines. President of PWS Dr. Khalil-ur-Rehman thanked the Pakistan Consulate officials, guests, doctors, members and volunteers of PWS for their support and services for this noble cause. He especially thanked the Consul General and his wife for their kind presence and encouragement extended to PWS. He praised the role of Pakistan Embassy in Riyadh and Pakistan Consulate here for their constant cooperation with PWS. Fouzia Khan, in-charge of PWS Women Wing, presented her views about PWS's mission to serve the community. She vowed to work for the well-being of women in the society by arranging various useful programs and events in order to create positive opportunities for them. The wife of Pakistan Consul General spoke about the importance of women's part in society and promised to help in the upliftment of their causes.
