Published in The Saudi Gazette on 23 - 10 - 2008

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a global leader in consumer electronics and digital technology, unveiled at Gitex Technology Week 2008 in Dubai a series of new generation music players, the Q1 and U4.The new line-up emphasizes sound, light and color to express seeing, listening and feeling of music from the “Imagine Freedom from Monotony” concept of 2008 Samsung MP3 Players.
Samsung's new 2008 MP3s focus on the convergence of many functions and features reflected by the trend in mobile entertainment device toward “multi-usability.” A user-centric interface and soft lighting effects, various colors and rounded edges in a slim design show a communicable emotional device that makes the user see, listen and feel the music.
“Samsung is pleased to display its latest MP3 line-up in Gitex this year. The Samsung booth will change into a music factory attracting visitors with melodies, colours and images”, said, BJ Kim, general manager, AV Division, Samsung Gulf Electronics.
“Samsung hopes to evolve our MP3 players to become a total mobile entertainment solution by strengthening the connection between other mobile devices like mobile phones. Samsung's MP3 players support users to create and share contents and enjoy various services,” he added.
Inspiring to be the “world's best sound quality,” the MP3 Player Q1 offers DNSe 3.0 which is upgraded from DNSe 2.0. Q1 has various sound quality technologies including the audio upscale function, which restores missing sound range.
Q1 also analyses the MP3 file's mood and genre and applies the appropriate EQ effect with the analyzed data. The 2.4 inch TFT LCD display and dimming lighting effect awake the user's emotional feelings. Q1 satisfies various consumers' demands for multifunctional mobile entertainment devices. Three fancy colors (black, white, silver) and 4, 8 and 16GB memory variation is supported.
Samsung's USB Type MP3 Player U4, which is followed after U3, focuses on emotional design and multi-usability. YP-U4's design concept is “litmus” inspired by color gradation on litmus paper. U4 offers high-glossy round panel which is used in Samsung LCD TVs and monitors. Through this emotional design factor, U4 enriches user's susceptibility. U4 offers DNSe2.0 and shows best sound technology in a USB form factor.
