Saudi Gazette report RIYADH – The Day of Solidarity with Syrian children will start here on Tuesday evening. The event was ordered by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah in response to the tragic humanitarian situation and the suffering of the people in Syria. Prince Muhammad Bin Naif, Minister of Interior, will patronize the Day of Solidarity with the Syrian children with official and popular participation at the highest levels. Head of the Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques Sheikh Abdulrahman Al-Sudais said that what has happened to innocent people in Syria has shaken the world. “It is the greatest humanitarian disaster in modern age,” he said, adding, “Thanks to Allah Almighty this blessed country's leadership has committed to support the brothers everywhere, especially in the Levant to confirm its solidarity with the oppressed, especially the vulnerable children of the Syrian people.” The Council of Ministers praised the holding of the Day of Solidarity with the Syrian children. It said the campaign will help meet the needs of thousands of Syrian children living in difficult and tragic circumstances and contribute along with the international humanitarian community to reduce the suffering of displaced Syrian children and those living as refugees in neighboring countries. On Sunday, Grand Mufti and President of Council of Senior Scholars and General Presidency of Scholarly Research and Ifta Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Abdullah Al-Sheikh appealed to citizens and residents, especially the wealthy to contribute generously to the Saudi National Campaign to Support Brothers in Syria. While lauding King Abdullah's generous support, Al-Sheikh called on all Saudis to deliver their donations through the campaign, the sole agency to receive donations and aid to our brothers in Syria. He commended the role being played by the Saudi National Campaign to support the Syrian people, particularly its general supervisor, Minister of Interior Prince Muhammad Bin Naif for his efforts for the relief of the Syrian people, support for their cause and alleviation of their sufferings.
