AL-KHOBAR — The United Football Club (UFC), Al-Khobar, is organizing a football tournament as part of its 5th anniversary celebrations this month. According to the club management 20 teams are vying for honors. Renowned national and state level players will be joining teams to make this event a mega tournament. Apart from the Indian clubs, two Indonesian teams will be playing as guests. The tourney is mainly sponsored by ABC Cargo and Al-Dossary Hospital will be awarding the runner-up trophy. Express Money will be giving cash prizes for the teams. The co-sponsors are Lulu Hypermarket, Jet Airways, City Flower Stores and Al-Marai. From the quarterfinal stage all the goal-scorers will be receiving gifts from Indomie. Complementary gifts are at stake for the quiz competition which will be held during the break. A 51-member committee has been formed for the smooth conduct of the tournament. According to club media co-ordinator Mujeeb Kalathil, UFC has been giving financial support to the needy in the community from the revenues. The clus has decided to support Dammam Media Forum which is building homes for the Endosulfan victims in Kasargode district in Kerala state. UFC which was formed five years ago has won several expatriate tournaments at national and region levels. The souvenir which was released recently won appreciation from the socio-cultural leaders here. Ramsheed Vazhakkad, Director of ABC Cargo, and Azeez Meppadi, Dammam Branch Manager, said during a press conference that they are impressed by the professionalism of UFC in conducting tournaments. The tournament committee chief T.P.M Fazal, UFC Acting President C. Abdul Razaq, DIFA General Secretary Riyas Parali and Club Media and Public Relation Coordinator Mujeeb Kalathil were present during the press conference.
