TABUK — Emir of Tabuk Prince Fahd Bin Sultan directed officials to hand over Lama Al-Rouqi's body parts retrieved from an abandoned well in the Tabuk province to her family for burial and call off all search operations, Al-Hayat daily reported. The six-year-old girl died after falling into the 100-meter-deep well in the Haql governorate in December while playing with her sister. The family was picnicking in the area. In a statement, Tabuk Civil Defense spokesman Col. Mamdooh Al-Eneizi said tests on DNA samples taken by forensic doctors confirmed that the body parts belonged to Lama. The case sparked a heated discussion on safety hazards posed by thousands of abandoned bore wells in many parts of the country.
