DPS, IISJ score thrilling wins in SIFF soccer

JEDDAH — Delhi Public School, International Indian School Jeddah, Zimo BRC and Nadec Blue Star scored comfortable wins in the SIFF–Western Union Soccer Tournament here recently.
Delhi Public School (DPS) registered its first win when it beat Mahad Al-Uloom International School 1-0 in the Inter-School Division for Al-Abeer Trophy.
Zaid scored all-important goal in the 3rd minute on an excellent pass from Man-of-the-Match Jazeel.
In another Inter-School Division encounter International Indian School Jeddah trounced Bangladesh International School 3-0.
Man-of-the-Match Furqan Al-Mehdi opened the account for IISJ with a beautiful lob over the advancing goalkeeper in the 7th minute.
Speedy winger Akhil Kareem doubled the lead in the second half, while substitute Sahal put the result beyond doubt with a long-rang shot when ended up in the back of the net.
The third match saw Zimo BRC edge Combined Brothers 1-0 in their Second Division outing. Firshad scored the lone goal midway through the first half. Zimo missed several chances, including a shot from the spot. Habeeb of Zimo BRC was adjudged the Man-of-the-Match.
The last match of the day was played in the First Division where Nadec Blue Star beat last year's Second Division winner ACC B 3-1. Captain Nizar put Blue Star ahead in the 17th minute following a combined move with Majeed.
Right full-back Byju increased the lead when he put the ball in the net on a long pass from hard-working midfielder Majeed three minutes later.
ACC B pulled one back when midfielder Faysal Hamza's free-kick landed in the net. Haris, however, scored the third for Blue Star in the dying minutes of the match. Nizar of Blue Star was adjudged the Man-of-the-Match.

The 17th league championship being organized by Saudi Indian Football Forum (SIFF) is mainly sponsored by Western Union Money Transfer. The cosponsors are Nokia, JNH, Badr Al-Tamam Polyclinic, VLCC, Zimo, Al-Abeer Medical Group, Rabea Tea and ABC Cargo.
Friday's matches are:
Match No. 1 — Naseem Jeddah Poly Clinic Sporting United vs. Linc Pen Soccer Freakz at 4:15 pm (U-17 category);
Match No. 2 — Jeddah Sports Club Soccer Academy vs. Hiba Poly Clinic Green Shore Teens at 5:20 pm (Inter-School Category);
Match No. 3 — Al-Ryan Water Town Team Strikers vs. Al-Noor Medical Center YCC at 6:30 pm (Division B); and
Match No. 4 — Eastern Eranad Club vs. ABC Cargo YAS Club at 7:50 pm (Division A). — SG
