Dr. Ali Al-Ghamdi's article about Allama Iqbal (Nov. 13) was wonderful. The author beautifully summarized Allama's entire life. I, however, would like to mention just one point that adds to the grandeur of Allama Iqbal. When Indian astronaut Rakesh Sharma ascended to space from a Russian base in 1984, he contacted Mrs. Indira Gandhi from there. Much exited Mrs. Gandhi asked how India looked from outer space. “Saare jahaan se achaa Hindustan hamara” (“Hindustan is better than the whole world”) came the prompt reply from the astronaut. Thus, the words of Iqbal's poem reverberated high up above in the sky. In my humble opinion, no other poet can claim to have risen to such glory and heights. Dr. Ameed Alwaheedy, Jeddah
