Saudi Gazette report RIYADH – Contracts signed with six companies to dispose of the waste will help keep Makkah and the holy sites clean, Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs Prince Dr. Mansour Bin Miteb said after an inspection tour of the ministry's projects in the holy sites on Saturday. The ministry has alloted sites for garbage disposal and dumping, he said, attributing the accumulation of waste to lack of cooperation by some Haj and Tawafa establishments. Prince Mansour welcomed the idea of collecting taxes from Tawafa establishments to dispose of garbage and keep the rest rooms clean. He said that an additional 36,000 rest rooms are being built, which will be completed before the next Haj season. Prince Mansour said the Jamarat Bridge was constructed to have up to 12 storys so as to accommodate the increasing number of pilgrims. He said more storys will be added if and when needed. Currently the bridge can accommodate large numbers of pilgrims. About the second ring road in Makkah and King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Road, he said they are expected to transfer traffic from western Makkah to the east and from the north to the south. – SG/SPA
