JEDDAH — My Care Hala (MCH) downed Islamic development Bank (IDB), APF humbled Usman Gems and AOT defeated Deccan Knights in the WPCA Premier Tournament, sponsored by Hyundai Naghi, here recently.
IDB opting to bat first against MCH lost wickets early. However, Khalid Butt made 22 and Riyaz 28. Farook played magnificently to compile an unbeaten 78 in 44 balls with 9 fours to take his team to some respectability of 164-7. Hussain Bhatti took 2-19, Amjed 2-28, Faheem 1-30 and Jameel 1-53.
My Care Hala, in response, raced to 46 runs in quick time as Qamar Abbas hit 4 sixes and 2 fours to compile 39, while Moazzam Shoukat plundered 53 in 31 balls with 8 fours. He added 65 runs with Kashif Shafeeq who contributed 29. Baber remained unbeaten on 26 to win the match (169-4). Ashfaq took 2-25, Farooque 1-20 and Baber 1-31.
Asian Advanced Plastic Factory (APF) opted to bat first against Usman Gems and put on 195-7, mainly through Anis Malik who hammered 50 in 29 balls with 3 sixes and 6 fours. Abdullah Essa contributed 31 and Waqas Ausaf scored 45 in 21 balls. Zeeshan took 2-17, Kashan 1-31, Azhar 1-34, Fareed 1-26 and Zahid Anwer 1-51.
Usman Gems, in reply, was bundled out for 110. Zeeshan top-scored with 29 and skipper Hashim Khan hit 23. Arshad Choudhry grabbed 3-20, Abdulqayyum 3-15, Waqas Ausaf 2-30 and Anis Malik 1-5.
Deccan Knights, opting to bat first against AOT, started well with 60 runs in 39 balls as openers Najeeb hit 39 and Sohail 26. From 60 for no loss they lost five wickets for the addition of 29 runs to be reeling at 89-5 as Tahir mesmerized them with 4-24, while skipper Nasir Iqbal scalped 2-29 and Qaiser 1-25. Aleem hit 33 to take the team to 163-7.
AOT reached the target in 108 balls with 6 wickets in hand as Amer Siddiqui played another gem of an innings. He slammed 67 in 36 balls with 3 sixes and 5 fours. Hard-hitter Faisal made 16. Taher, batting at one down, made a sedate 27 and Qaiser Lateef 14. Wajid took 2-20 Ather 1-33 and Ayaz 1-35.
