NAJRAN – A Saudi illiterate man in his 80s who works as a tourist guide in Najran has impressed visitors to the area with his extraordinary linguistic skills, Al-Eqtisadiah daily reported. Saeed Jaman speaks German, English, and French in addition to his native Arabic, despite claiming he never went to school. He said he learned these languages during his work with Saudi Aramco as a carpenter 20 years ago. After spending several years with Aramco, he joined the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)'s office in the Kingdom as a translator. During his tenure with the ICRC, he received an invitation from Prince Sultan Bin Salman, who had heard about his linguistic skills. He said he still remembers the day when Prince Sultan granted him a tourist guide license in his office after he heard him speaking three languages. Jaman shows tourists around Najran and takes them on tours of archeological sites. — SG
