I am writing with reference to the article "Municipality takes the heat as cleaners toil under hot sun" (July 29). I find it sickening that there is so much rubbish on the streets that needs to be picked up. What kind of people still throw trash on the ground? The following is a true story. A year ago in North Obhur, my husband and I stopped for tea and a Baladiya truck was in front of us at the drive through. We watched the driver of the truck throw out of the window paper, a water bottle, and then more paper. Finally, my husband approached him and asked what was wrong with him. The man then went on a rampage throwing tissues and the tissue box out of the window. He then verbally abused my husband, who by then had seen his ID. In fact this person happily showed it to my husband. He then drove in circles around us screaming and throwing anything he had out of the window. We did call and report this incident, and we also made a complaint via the Baladiya website. Sadly no one ever contacted us. It seems that those meant to keep our city clean are the worst offenders. Maybe that is why they feel it's a 16-hour a day job! S., Online response
