For the first time in the Kingdom, Al-Nahdi Pharmacies Group will open special sections in about 20 pharmacies for physically impaired and handicapped males and females. This project is the result of an agreement between Al-Nahdi Pharmacies Group and the Will Makers Committee of the JCCI and was inked by Bandar Tala'at Hamwah, head of Al-Nahdi Pharmacies, and Shawqi Abdul Rahman Khayat chief of the committee here on Saturday. The project named “Jeddah is a suitable environment for the handicapped” will provide special lanes and parking lots for impaired customers. These 20 pharmacies will be marked by a lighted sign that reads “This Pharmacy is a friend of handicapped people.” “Collective efforts should be carried out to provide a better life for people with special needs,” Hamwah said. Public awareness toward the needs of physically impaired people ought to be raised as well, he added. Khayat expressed his great happiness over the promising initiative by Al-Nahdi which will open the door for the private sector to do more for handicapped and physically impaired people. “The committee has some future schemes and projects for the benefits of the handicapped and other people with special needs,” he added. __
