The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri) is awarded as one of the top companies in the Arab Region by Forbes Middle East. Saleh Al-Jasser, Bahri CEO, received the award during an event organized under the aegis of Sheikh Nahayan Bin Mubarak Al Nahayan, Minister for Culture, Youth & Community Development in UAE, hosted by Forbes Middle East at the Ritz Carlton Abu Dhabi in the presence of business leaders and decision makers from a full spectrum of sectors. Bahri CEO Saleh Al-Jasser commented: “We are genuinely delighted and honored to receive this award and believe it to be a reflection of our quest for excellence in global marine transport.” The company has expanded and diversified greatly to include business sectors that span across Oil & Gas, Chemicals, General Cargo, Dry Bulk and Ship Management. Presently, Bahri owns and operates a fleet of 44 vessels with addition 10 new building vessels to join the fleet during 2013-2014 while enforcing stringent safety regulations and quality standards. In November 2012, Bahri signed a historical agreement to merge the fleet and operations of Saudi Aramco shipping arm Vela International Marine Limited with Bahri, making Bahri the exclusive provider of VLCC crude oil shipping services for crude oil sold by Saudi Aramco on a delivered basis. Bahri presently holds 7th position globally in terms of VLCC fleet and post-merger with VELA, it will advance to 3rd position. The company's global standing in chemical fleet is 3.
