Chet Bautista JEDDAH — After two grueling months of tennis hostility, focus is now set on 12 of the 60 teams participating in the 25th ASTEC Team Tennis Tournament 2013, contesting for the six championship titles up for grabs. Leading the list of finalists, the protagonist in C Category is ABTC-Binladen team which won the semifinals 2-1 against team National Commercial Bank (NCB). It is pitted against early qualifier JRTC-Anta, which defeated SCTC-Pepsi 3-1 to advance. In the B2 Category, Red Sea Tennis Players (RSTP), 3-0 winners against DP World, will face ABTC which secured its berth via a super tie-break win against DJ Auto Parts. In B1 Category, the championship will be decided when Jeddah Ranao Tennis Club, which won over Shuman International 2-1, takes on Red Sea Tennis Players (RSTP), which disposed of DP World 3-0. Moving over to the mixed categories, in the Lower-Mixed (LMX) Category it will be a toss-up between Elaf Group, which put an end to the newcomer team SSS's streak with a 3-1 win in the semifinals against Red Sea Tennis Players (RSTP), 2-1 victors in their semifinals match over team JRTC-Rash. In the Middle-Mixed (MMX) Category, Sarimanok team, which won 2-1 over Friday Bulls, will defend its crown against DJ Auto Parts, which beat RSTP-2 3-1 in their semifinals encounter. In the Higher-Mixed (HMX) Category, it will be déjà vu as defending champion Red Sea Tennis Players (RSTP) team once again faces Fuchs team. Organized and managed by the Association of Tennis Clubs (ASTEC) Jeddah, this team tennis tournament being played at the Al-Bilad Hotel and Sheraton Hotel tennis courts is supported by Deltaz Marketing (Racquet Shop) through Tony Kassis, Maher Tebakhi and Amin Malik.
