RIYADH — The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the announcement of the start of the second phase of the comprehensive peace plan and the formation of the Palestinian National Committee for the Administration of the Gaza Strip as a temporary transitional body, established pursuant to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803. The ministry also welcomed the announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump on the establishment of a Peace Council, expressing appreciation for his leadership and efforts to end the war in Gaza, his commitment to the withdrawal of the Israeli army, the prevention of any annexation of parts of the West Bank, and advancing sustainable peace in the region. In this context, the ministry commended the mediation efforts of Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey. The Foreign Ministry stressed the importance of supporting the work of the temporary Palestinian National Committee in carrying out its responsibilities in managing the daily affairs of Gaza's population, while preserving the institutional and geographic link between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, ensuring Gaza's unity, and rejecting any attempts to divide it. It further emphasized the need to solidify the ceasefire, halt violations, ensure unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, and swiftly launch early recovery and reconstruction efforts across the territory. The ministry underscored the importance of paving the way for the return of the Palestinian National Authority to assume its responsibilities in Gaza, leading to an end to the Israeli occupation of all Palestinian territories in Gaza and the West Bank, and the realization of an independent Palestinian state in accordance with United Nations resolutions, the Arab Peace Initiative, and the two-state solution principle.
