NAJRAN — It has been confirmed the listing of the Uruq Bani Ma'arid Protected Area on the Green List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and its inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List, after meeting the approved criteria and requirements. Emir of Najran Prince Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed has received certificates confirming the listing in a ceremony held at his office in Najran on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by CEO of the National Center for Wildlife Dr. Mohammed Qurban and a number of center officials. Prince Jalawi commended the efforts of the National Center for Wildlife in achieving the registration of the Uruq Bani Ma'arid Protected Area on both lists, describing it as a national achievement that reflects the qualitative progress made by the Kingdom in environmental protection. He noted that this accomplishment embodies the Kingdom's commitment to applying international standards in the management of natural resources, supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, and enhancing the Kingdom's standing in global environmental indicators. During the meeting, the emir was briefed on the center's efforts to develop wildlife in the Najran region, contribute to ecosystem sustainability, protect wildlife species, and raise the efficiency of protected area management across the Kingdom.
